HealthSync iOS app terms of service

Please read these terms of service ("Terms") carefully before using the HealthSync iOS app ("the App").

Acceptance of terms​

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of service​

HealthSync is a personal utility app that:

  • Reads health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit
  • Transmits this data to a user-configured API endpoint
  • Provides manual and automatic sync functionality

The App is designed for users who operate their own dashboard server and wish to consolidate health data from Apple devices.

User responsibilities​

You are responsible for​

  1. Your API endpoint: Providing and maintaining a secure, functioning API endpoint to receive health data
  2. API security: Implementing appropriate authentication and access controls on your server
  3. Data compliance: Ensuring your handling of health data complies with applicable laws and regulations
  4. Server infrastructure: All costs and maintenance of your server infrastructure
  5. Data backup: Backing up data stored on your server
  6. HealthKit permissions: Granting appropriate permissions for the App to access your health data

You agree not to​

  1. Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  2. Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  3. Use the App to transmit malicious data to any server
  4. Misrepresent the source or ownership of data transmitted by the App

Technical requirements​

The App requires:

Data and privacy​

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how health data is accessed and transmitted.

Key points:

  • Health data is sent only to your configured endpoint
  • The App developer does not receive or store your health data
  • You control data retention on your server

Intellectual property​

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

The App is provided as open-source software. You may:

  • View and study the source code
  • Modify the App for personal use
  • Create derivative works in accordance with the applicable license

Disclaimer of warranties​

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF HEALTH DATA
  • UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION

The developer does not warrant that:

  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • The App will be available at all times
  • Health data will be transmitted without errors
  • Any defects will be corrected

Limitation of liability​

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Health decisions made based on data from the App
  • Server downtime or data transmission failures
  • Unauthorized access to your server or data
  • Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the App

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the App is to stop using it and delete it from your device.

Health data disclaimer​

The App is not a medical device. Health data provided by the App:

  • Should not be used for medical diagnosis or treatment
  • May not be accurate or complete
  • Is sourced from Apple HealthKit and reflects data recorded by your devices
  • Should be verified with healthcare professionals for medical decisions

Indemnification​

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Data stored on or transmitted through your server

Changes to terms​

The developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Termination​

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. The developer may discontinue the App or revoke access at any time without notice.

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App ceases immediately
  • Data on your server remains under your control
  • Local App settings are deleted when you remove the App

Governing law​

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Severability​

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
